Examination Pattern of JEE Main 2014

Subject combination for each paper and type of questions in each paper are given in the table below.

Paper I - B.E, B.Tech (Offline and Online Test)

One objective type question paper. The paper will consist of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The duration of the paper will be 3 (Three) Hours. The Paper I will be conducted in Computer Based online Test and Paper and Pen offline Test.

Paper II - B.Arch, B.Planning (Only Offline Test)

The Paper II will have one Question Paper consisting of 3 Parts. Part I Mathematics, Part II Aptitude Test and Part III Drawing Test as per past practice of AIEEE. Part I and Part II are having only Objective type questions. The duration of the paper will be 3 Hours. The Paper II will be conducted only in Paper and Pen offline Test.

The candidates choosing the cities Kathmandu, Singapore, Colombo will appear for Paper 1 in Computer Based Examination only on 19 Apr 2014. The Paper 2 in these three cities will be conducted on 06 Apr 2014 from 2.00 – 5.00 PM (IST) in Pen & Paper Based examination.

IIT JEE Advanced Exam Pattern and Schedule 2015

The JEE Advanced Exam will have two objective type papers, Paper I and Paper II. Each paper will consist 3 seperate sections on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Duration of each paper will be 3 hours. The questions will be of objective type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.

Negative Marking in JEE Advanced

There will be objective type questions with four options having single correct answer. In some sections, incorrect answers may be awarded with negative marks, For each incorrect response, one fourth (1/4) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted. There will be No Negative marks for the un-answerd questions.

JEE Advanced Answer Sheets

The answers are to be marked on a separate, 2 sheet carbonless paper. Candidate must not separate or disturb the alignment of the upper and lower sheets. The upper sheet is specially designed machine readable sheet of paper (ORS-Optical Response Sheet). While answering the candidate is expected to darken the bubble(s) against correct answer(s) only on the upper sheet using black ball point pen. The darkening on the upper sheet should be done in such a manner that the impression is seen on the lower sheet. Responses recorded on the upper sheet only will be taken as final. The candidate can take away the lower sheet with the permission of the invigilator(s) at the end of the examination.

Examination for Blind Candidates

A blind candidate can request for the services of Scribe. The scribe will be provided by the Presiding Officer (PO) of the Exam Centre and will be of Class XI from Science stream with Mathematics. The candidate will be able to meet the scribe a minimum of one hour before the examination time. One hour extra time to write the examination will be provided. For this, the candidate must submit a separate request letter to the Chairman of the respective zonal IIT while registering for JEE Advanced -2014 along with a copy of the PwD certificate obtained from the district medical board. The format of the Request Letter for Scribe . The soft (scanned) copies of the request letter along with PwD certificate must be uploaded during the registration process.

Syllabus for JEE Main 2013 Exam

JEE Main 2013 exam syllabus was released. It is same as last year AIEEE syllabus. For the syllabus of JEE advanced please refer jee.iitd.ac.in. Download JEE Main Final Syllabus 2013.

No of attempts in JEE(Main) Exam

The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE(Main) shall be limited to 3 (three) uniformly for all the candidates in consecutive years. The candidates passed +2 exam in 2011 or 2012 or appearing in +2 in 2013 are only eligible to appear in JEE Main 2013. Candidates passed +2 in 2010 or before or appearing in 2014 are not eligible to appear in JEE 2013.

Improvement of Marks or Results

If a candidate wants to improve his performance in Board Exam, he/she can do so but for consideration of that years result he/she has to appear in all the subjects and not the partial.

Paper 1 is for BE/ B.Tech - You can opt either Pen and paper based or Computer based exam. Paper 2 is for B.Arch / B.Planning – Only Pen and paper based exam.

For B.E and B.Tech (Engineering and Technology)courses admission it is enough to get Good rank in paper 1. For Architecture and planning only paper 2 is required.

What is For each incorrect response, one fourth of marks to question would be deducted ?

0.25 minus marks will be given for any wrong answers. But if you not answered for a question you don’t know , that is you do not mark any four options of the answers means negative marks will not be given in JEE advanced.

Is it necessary to give both the exam of IIT paper that is paper-I and Paper-II ?

If you want to apply for B.E, B.Tech and B.Arch, B.Planning you have to write both Paper I and II. If you want to apply only for B.E , B.Tech it is enough to write Paper I.

One student can attend IIT JEE for 3 years, So you are eligible to apply IIT JEE main, and eligble for JEE Advanced if qualified on JEE Main.

Use of electronic devices like mobile phone, calculator, iPod, etc. is NOT PERMITTED in JEE (Main) 2013. Also materials like log table, book, notebook, etc. should NOT be brought into the examination hall.

Yes if you appeared last year, that will be considered as an attempt in JEE-Main 2013 exam. The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE(Main) shall be limited to 03 (three) uniformly for all the candidates in consecutive years.
