JEE Main, IIT JEE Advanced Exam 2014 Eligibility

 

Eligibility of JEE Main 2014

The student who have passed in final examination of +2 (Class XII) or its equivalent qualifying examination in the year 2012 or 2013 or Those appearing in +2 in 2014 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2014. 2011 passouts or before are not eligible to appear in JEE Main.

Students who appeared in class 12in 2011, did not pass in 2011, but passed in 2012 are also not eligible. Students must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th.

The candidates who are seeking admission in NITs, IIITs or CFTIs must ensure their eligibility for the admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. The candidates who are aspirants only for IITs and ISM Dhanbad must ensure their eligibility for admission in IITs and ISM Dhanbad.

Qualifying Examinations for JEE Main

  1. The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
  2. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
  3. Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  4. Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
  5. H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
  6. A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
  7. 3 or 4-year diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

State Code of Eligibility

State Code of eligibility means the Code of the State from where a candidate has passed +2 examination by virtue of which he/she becomes eligible to appear in the JEE Main. Visit List of State Codes of Eligibility of JEE Exam.

Number of Attempts and Year of Appearance in JEE Main

The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03 (three).

Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2012 or 2013; or those who are appearing in 2014 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2014. Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2011 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2015 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2014. The candidates who appeared in class 12th/equivalent qualifying Examinations in 2011, did not pass in 2011, but passed in 2012 are also not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2014.

The Eligibility for CFIs, Gujarath, Maharashtra, Odisha states are different.

Eligibility of IIT JEE Advanced 2014

Students Appear Board Exams First time in 2014

  1. The sutdent should write the JEE Main Exam Paper I and passed with Top 1,50,000 Rank from all categories like Genearl, OBC Non creamy layer, SC and ST.
  2. The student should also be in the Top 20% of his Board Exams (state boards or CBSE or ISCE ) in applicable categories.

PwD candidates will be given relaxation in the eligibility criteria as per the decision of the Joint Admission Board of JEE (Advanced) 2014 in consonance with the directives of the Government of India. The top 20 percentile of CBSE board 2013 examination result to Qualify for JEE Advanced is given below.

Number of Attempts in JEE Advanced

A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times and that too, in consecutive years. However, being in the top 1, 50,000 in JEE Main 2014 is the prime eligibility criterion applicable to all irrespective of the attempt number.

Students Passed Board Exams in 2013

Students who passed their Board exam for the first time in 2013 or passed in 2013 but are re-appearing in the 2014 Board exams with a view to improve their performance, the eligibility criteria for apply JEE Advanced is same as per the previous section.

Candidates who passed their QE in 2013 will be considered on the basis of the top 20 percentile cut off marks of their boards in 2013. Candidates, who passed in 2013 and would improve their performance of QE in 2014, will be considered on the basis of 2014 cut off marks of their respective Boards in their respective category.

Students Passed Board exams in 2012

Students Passed in 2012 or earlier (irrespective of whether they passed or failed) are Not Eligible. Candidates who attempted IIT JEE in 2012 or earlier, are also Not Eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2014.

Students Admitted Through Earlier IIT JEE

Students who have taken admission (irrespective of whether or not they continued in any of the programmes) or accepted the admission by paying the registration fee at any of the IITs, IT-BHU Varanasi or ISM Dhanbad, are Not Eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2014.

Age Limits

Candidates of GE and OBC categories must have been born on or after October 01, 1989 and those of SC, ST and PwD categories must have been born on or after October 01, 1984. This is the age limit for both JEE main and advanced.

Fitness for Mining and Petroleum Engineering

Special fitness and eligibility is required for mining and petroleum engineering. Visit mining and petroleum engineering fitness and eligibility.

NRI, FN, PIOs

Non-Resident Indian NRIs and Foreign National FN and Person of Indian Origin PIOs Can apply for JEE. They must score 60% aggregate marks in their qualifying examination.

For IITs the student must secure 60% as basic eligibility in 12th results, he should be in the top 20% rank of CBSE 12th results, then only he is eligible to apply for JEE advanced, provided he has to be In the top 150000 rank of JEE merit list.

What is the contribution of board marks in JEE Advanced ?

You should score at least 60% of marks in your school board exam. You must be in the top 20% score of your Board results to be qualified for JEE advanced that is if 1000 students write your board for example CBSE, you must be within the top 2000 rank students. You are eligible to appear for JEE main this year. If you are appearing for improvement exams you have to write all subjects again.
